All the controversy surrounding the Medium Writers Challenge (MWC) has shown me one important thing. No matter what side of the issue they happen to be on, writers get really opinionated about writing competitions.

I decided to take advantage of all the buzz and try to ride the wave a little myself. I’ve done two proactive things, to benefit from the current and popular topic of writing challenges.

Medium Writing Challenge Controversy

In a recent story, I wrote about how some writers refrained from entering the MWC, quite possibly because of their fear of being rejected.

That seemed like the most logical reason to me for anyone not entering, since there didn’t seem to be any other serious barriers (such as no entry fee or harsh rules).

Yet I read a comment about the number of entries being low, and I’ve seen stories from Medium, nudging writers to submit entries.
