Although I agree with your primary viewpoint, I think it helps when we writers - you, me, and the other writer included - always remember to qualify our statements, and indicate: This is not the case with everyone. NOTHING is as black and white as we tend to make things seems. Your point is well taken, but believe it or not, there are actually some people who do have self esteem issues or other mental or emotional baggage that make them feel unworthy of having nice things or being treated right. It's not the norm, but it happens, so in a way, you and the other reader are correct - but mostly you :-)
