"can old friends ever really be friends again?" This is a question I've asked myself, after losing old friends, and longing to reconnect. But sometimes too much passage of time is enough to make a rift, not to mention if there are old unresolved issues. Personally, I'd safeguard my heart, and not get mixed up in whatever is going on with her. If she wants to reach out, she knows how, but I wouldn't pursue it, because like you, I'd be crushed when and if she came back into my life, then decided to be flaky again. Good luck Barbara, and tread softly :-)
