Hey Tessa, excellent piece and I feel you lady. I do want to elaborate a bit on the "not writing about writing" part, because if that's what someone's goal and objective is, than go for it, but get better at teaching and get better at what you're teaching. It's the same for whatever you decide to write. It's okay if those who can't act, teach acting, as long as they're okay with it and stay in their lane. I HATE that I love writing about writing, but like you, after so many years, you learn stuff. I'm a teacher by nature, so it's in my blood to want to teach, but I'd much rather be concentrating fully on my next novel. What can I say, we writers are complicated people :-)
