I focused more on ghost writing for clients, by writing requested content on spec. That's how I made money there, plus, at the time, they also had a paid referral program. I had a website with a referral link on it, and recruited 80 writers, that I continued to earn money from for years. Not a whole lot, but regularly. Now that I"ve built a huge portfolio, I'll be submitting to them again :-)
