Libraries, Books, and the Future of Education
Should we be worried about today’s students tomorrow?

As a former elementary school cafeteria worker, office clerk, and lastly, a school librarian, I naturally feel some kind of way about the current presidents’ intentions of dismantling The Department of Education.
Besides having worked in all the above mentioned roles, I also spent time working as a pre-school teacher, therefore, I’m equally concerned about the importance of early childhood education.
And finally, during my time in Junior college, I earned work study credits by working in the Financial Aid Office, helping my fellow college students stay on top of their required paperwork, and keeping up with mandatory document related deadlines.
What is the point of my bringing up former job positions and roles at previous places of employment?
To help readers appreciate the education related responsibilities that I was once so committed to, and why they still matter so much to me now.
In fact, when it comes to the topics of libraries, books, and the overall future of education in America, I can’t help worrying about tomorrow’s future for today’s students.
