LOL. That's funny, considering my very first paying job - outside of babysitting and housecleaning an elderly neighbor's home - was also telemarketing. It was 1976 - my senior year, and also the Bicentennial of America. I peddled promotional Bicentennial ink pens over the phone, bearing the inscription: 1776-1976. I lasted a week, and didn't earn anything (since no sales equal no commission). Thanks for the memories DOG :-)
