"My goal with savings is not to just have a sum of money sitting around where moth and rust destroy, “in case” something happens someday." That's exactly how I feel. I want to be in a position to deal with a financial emergency, but I also want to enjoy my life while I still have one to enjoy, and not be so hung up on saving with no real concept of why or what for.
