This is so true Nicole, and unfortunately, sometimes it's not their fault that they can't be a listening ear and place for you to find comfort. I suspect that if may just have to do with their own fear and insecurities. Believe it or not, some people actually behave like they think mental health is contagious, and they're afraid of catching it. They may be hiding or suppressing their own low feelings or even depression, by trying to mask it as strength, or being so rough on you. One thing about encountering these folks and recognizing them for who they are - they help you feel a little less pain yourself, when you see through their B.S. and can feel sorry for them.
