I’ve learned from personal experience, online writers have to be open and willing, to always always find ways to promote their fellow content creators.

Is this a viewpoint that you agree with and support? Then stick around, for some more, extremely valuable tips and writing advice, about how to gain more visibility for you and your Medium stories.

On the other hand, if you object to networking and supporting other writers, as a way of promoting your own stories on Medium, you may as well stop reading this information right now, because the following content is not for you.

The reality is…

Medium’s online writing platform is not for everyone

As hard as it may be for some writers to accept, Medium’s online writing platform is not for everyone.

That statement is not meant to offend anyone, or be presumptuous about the proposed outcome of anyone else’s writing success, or lack of it.

I merely want to state my honest opinion, and belief, after more than two years, evaluating how the Medium community operates.

Should the opinion of prolific writers like myself, and the other writers that I mention and refer to in my stories really matter?

If there is one SURE thing that I have learned, it’s this:

The key to increasing the visibility of your stories, on one of the best freelance writing platforms online, is to follow the smart advice provided by prolific and experienced members, who have struggled, and yet still survived, by effectively promoting themselves on Medium.

And just what advice do myself and some of the other longtime Medium writers offer and suggest?

That new writers and members to the community, learn the value that comes from promoting other writers, even while you’re diligently promotion yourself.

Notice some of the following ways you can successfully do just that…

Promoting Medium stories in a fun and creative way

In my experience with finding ways to promote the stories I write on Medium, the more creative you can be, the better the outcome for the story titles you promote.

Since I’m a big fan of sharing everything I do in a story, whether it’s about writing, or some other online activity, I can always find an opportunity to mention a fellow writer, or a story that I read.

Doing this, creates an opening for me to also mention any of my own related content, or tie the other writer’s theme into whatever I happen to be writing about.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s a win win for everyone concerned.

In fact, that seems to be the way I view all the activities that relate to the way I typically promote my writing on Medium.

To give you an idea of what I mean, notice some of the previous activities I performed, all in an effort to promote my stories, along with promoting some other writers and their stories as well.

But make no mistake, this type of focus on story linking and self promotion, requires you to designate a little time, on a regular basis.

If you do, you’ll see it begin to pay off.

Here are a number of different ways that I promoted other writers, and gained more visibility for myself:

For even more ideas about how to promote your stories on Medium and gain more visibility, you can browse the titles in my related list of stories.

All of my previous efforts at promoting other writers, paid off by me being able to also promote numerous titles of my own, taken from my diverse Directory of Stories.

It’s just like I said — win, win…

Final Thoughts

There’s something important to keep in mind, with regard to the promotional activities you decide to perform.

Not every activity or promotional project you embark on, will necessarily meet all your expectations, as far as the results. But don’t allow that to deter you!

Some things may actually turn out better than you imagined, and some things, not so much.

👉 The trick, is to make sure that each promotional activity that you attempt, turns out to be a learning experience, if nothing else.

This is what prepares and fortifies you for the next venture that you engage in on Medium.

Remember that your main objective is to: NOT GIVE UP!
