"the experience I had taken three times before with my best friend," I can imagine that the time was bittersweet, knowing what you once had, and what would be no more. I know you'll always be glad you kept the commitment to the kids, and helped to create more beautiful memories, that will no doubt be treasured, just like the ones you made with your friend :-)
