The Hit and Run Accident that Still Haunts Me

I hit a dog with my car one foggy night and I’ll never be free from the guilt.

This story was inspired by one that I read from my sista from another mother (that’s what I’ve decided to call Sherry McGuinn). She’s one of the many Medium writers I’ve been following and corresponding with regularly.

Sherry and I hit it off right away, and she’s someone I enjoy waking up to. I read her responses to my stories, and then I read one or two of her stories so I can clap back.

She’s so funny and super cool (just like me). So as I was saying, I was inspired to write this story, after reading the beautiful and sad story she shared about a wounded bird.

I won’t give any spoilers to her story, I’ll just let you guys read it for yourself, and you may want to have your tissues handy.

After I finished reading Sherry’s story, it reminded me of something that happened to me about forty years ago, but just like Sherry, I’ll never forget this incident in my life.
