Valid point Ken, and I agree, there are far too many more benefits if you not only self publish, but create your own publication - if just for you - to publish and lay your stories out like you want to. I think when you're just getting started, publications are needed to help prime the pump - aka: get things started. But once things began to trickle (if not flow), you can do more things on your own. Just my humble opinion :-)
