Where Are All My Friends?
I need to know what topics you’re sharing now
If anyone else in the community is feeling like me, then you’re probably wondering where some of your friends are, and what are they writing about, now that things have changed.
Clearly there’s no need to elaborate, because everyone has probably heard the recent updates that affect some of your favorite online writers.
I’d be lying to myself, if I tried to pretend I wasn’t a bit salty about the new rules regarding certain uncompensated content.
But I decided to put on my big girl panties, and try to have a better perspective about things.
For those who might have missed it, I shared my latest outlook about things, and I even did it WITHOUT ever even using the “M” word once!
Yay me!
I’m actually quite proud of myself 😄.
I guess there really is a new Justiss Goode in town, but not entirely. I’m still authentically me, and you’ll probably notice the same demeanor in my writing.
The difference is, all my topics of interest will now extend outside the online bubble that some of us have created for ourselves on this platform.
For those who haven’t already discovered it by now, there’s so much more to me and what I have to say, than simply talking about the subject of writing.
I guess that was what I was trying to say in my latest “About Me” story (YES, I published another one. What of it? LOL)
Actually, I made a point of self publishing this recent Bio, and you can expect to see the majority of my future stories published that way.
Unfortunately, a large part of my current audience automatically associates my Daily Justiss publication with my former niche.
Since I don’t want my readers to make the wrong assumption, going forward, most of my stories won’t be associated with a publication.
Hopefully, by taking time to keep alerting my readers to what’s going on with my content, I’ll be able to reconnect with a lot more of my friends that I’ve been missing.
What topics are you’re sharing now?
I don’t know if I’m just completely out of touch with things, or what’s going on; but the names and faces of so many of my writing friends have gone missing.
I find myself getting brief notices from a whole lot of new individuals, but mostly from unfamiliar names.
Now that I’ve decided to shy away from writing related story themes, I no longer write or read them.
Could this be why the story recommendations that show up on my front page, can’t figure out who or what to suggest I read?
In all honesty, I don’t even know how to go about looking for stories to read anymore, so I’m hoping I can get some suggestions in the Comment section.
I want to hear from those of my dear friends that I may have been neglecting lately, especially if the former themes that were typically written by you, are no longer the focus of your stories.
I suspect that many of us writers who once supported one another in a genuine way, are also experiencing something similar with their favorites in the community.
I invite you to feel free and provide links to stories you think I might enjoy, and maybe I can use this page as a reading list for the month.
The topics I enjoy reading about include (but are not limited to):
- Personal essays (Family, relationships, and self growth)
- Home and consumer related (Household hacks, recipes, deals)
- Trivia (I’m a sucker for fun facts and unique/lesser known info)
That’s just an idea of the topics I like to read about, but actually, I’m open to just about anything, if the title is appealing and discloses enough to catch my interest.
I look forward to hearing from some of the folks I’ve been missing in my feeds, and I also hope I’ll start showing up in theirs again.
