Why Are YOU Here?

Not every member is an avid reader and not every writer is prolific!

I recently read a comment, where a writer indicated that although they’re a writer, they’re purpose here on Medium is to read.

While I can appreciate that viewpoint, IF that’s how an individual feels, but that’s not why I’M here.

I’m a WRITER, first and foremost.

Yes, I like to read, and I definitely believe in supporting and promoting fellow writers.

I’ve always got some promotional activity going on, as a way to share what I enjoy reading with others.

Just recently, I even started my Medium Friends Reading Club, as a way to help support various writers and the stories they hope to make visible.

I do what I can as a reader, but unlike so many other members on the platform, I’m just NOT an avid reader.

And you know what? As far as I’m concerned, that’s okay.

Not everyone CAN be an avid reader, especially the kind who typically consume one or two novels a week, in between the gazillion stories they find to read on Medium.

Personally, I admire avid readers, and how they can rattle off all the books that they’ve enjoyed, just in the course of a month’s time, while I can…
