Black Like Me is one of the gazillion new publications on Medium and my stories primarily focus on the need for social change, as well as other black related issues and concerns.

When I first started the publication, aimed at inspiring and lifting up African Americans in every way, I had very high hopes for the outcome.

But as I brought out in two recent stories about creating Medium publications and being an editor, things didn’t turn out like I planned.

You can read about it later, or in a few minutes when you’re done here.

20 Difficult Questions You Need to Ask Yourself Before Becoming a Publication Editor

Why I Thought I Wanted to Be a Publication Editor But Now I Definitely Don’t

So now that I’ve shared those feeling to the Medium community, I’ve decided to make things official, by posting my intended plans for my remaining 3 publications, starting with Black Like Me.

I will not be accepting submissions for Black Like Me any longer, however, I will continue to write and post informative and entertaining stories here by myself.

Thanks to Black Like Me Supporters

Although the Black Like Me publication did not manage to take root like I expected, there are still several people that I would like to thank.

First and foremost, is Sara J Elliott, for submitting the story of her personal experience at a restaurant, where she witnessed something unbelievable.

I truly enjoyed this Medium writer’s story, and I applaud her keen eye for recognizing racist B.S. in all it’s many facets. If you haven’t already done it, read this story and you’ll see exactly what I mean:

Touching Her Hair

I also would like to thank the writers who applied to write for the Black Like Me publication, but for whatever reason, they never got around to it.

Jeofrey Ogire, Roy Landers, Sherry McGuinn
